A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

No where is “gun” or “firearm” mentioned, yet the 2nd Amendment has been narrowed to only apply to guns.

A right is something that is possessed that no one can take from you, the 2nd Amendment pretty clearly guarantees the right to “bear arms.”

What about swords?  Or clubs?  These are clearly arms (which after all is simply an abbreviated form of armaments)

Clearly the courts have never ruled on this, yet still we have the illegal narrowing of meaning.

With all of the different interest groups involved in 2nd Amendment protections, none seek to restore the broad meaning of the original phraseology.  I’ve done extensive internet searches and can find no reference to the 2nd Amendment and the broader definition of “arms.”

I think it is time to restore the 2nd Amendment to its original meaning, and to move away from the focus on only guns.

What do you think?
